The more I read from GOD'S Word, the more I receive from it, this River never runs dry, and the Bread never grows stale. Thank GOD!

Recently, in reading from the book of Deuteronomy, I noticed this scripture:

“Thou shalt have a place also without the camp, whither thou shalt go forth abroad: And thou shalt have a paddle upon thy weapon; and it shall be, when thou wilt ease thyself abroad, thou shalt dig therewith, and shalt turn back and cover that which cometh from thee” Deuteronomy 23:12-13

For those who do not understand: In those days, there were no bathrooms, so GOD told them to be sure to relieve themselves outside of the camp and to be sure to have a tool with which they could bury it.

Here is His reason for this:

“For the Lord thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that He see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.” Deuteronomy 23:14

Now, if GOD took such care to establish these basic laws in order to keep their camp clean (and free of bad odors) how much more should we who are called to Him keep our inner self clean?

“Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.” I Corinthians 3:16-17

These are not just Old Testament laws meant only for the Jewish people of that time to observe, but were established as examples to us (both Jew and Gentile alike) who are now alive in Christ.

“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

If we have indeed received the gift of Salvation, then we have eternal life through Jesus Christ who is now become our LORD. Sin is what defiles and this is what we cannot allow into our life again.

“Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man. 17 Do you not yet understand, that whatsoever enters in at the mouth goes into the belly, and is cast out into the [latrine]? 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.” - Matthew 15:11, 17-18

GOD is amazing in how he showed us through His Son Jesus that the old laws were put in place to establish holiness and sanctity in the lives of His people, not just to observe on the outside. It was meant to be the example, that He dwells and walks in the midst of His people.

Don't let the old refuse back into your life. Let what is old be passed away (out of us) and buried; and let us walk in the newness of life.

All Glory to GOD who lives and reigns forever!

May His name be praised in all the Earth.

Amen and Amen.
